What is Accutane?

Accutane is a form of Vitamin A. It is a medication that is used for the treatment of severe nodular acne. In many cases, this medication is used by acne sufferers who have already tried a range of different medications and treatments for their acne but have had little to no success with the other treatments.

How does Accutane work?

The way in which this treatment works is to restrict the amount of oil that is secreted by the oil glands in the skin, the over-production of which can lead to skin problems. The treatment also aids the skin with its healing process, helping it to heal and renew with greater speed.

What sorts of side effects come with this treatment?

There are a number of different side effects that come with this particular acne treatment. Some of these are pretty mild side effects that you might get with a wide range of medications such as back pain, dizzy spells, rash and drowsiness. However, there are also more serious side effects that can include psychological problems, seizures, hearing problems and fever amongst others.

Does this treatment get rid of acne quickly?

The speed at which Accutane works will be based on how well the user reacts to the treatment – it may work more effectively and quickly on some users than on others. However, it is worth bearing in mind that some users will find that their acne appears to get worse when taking this treatment but it then starts to improve.
